NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A water main break caused a huge sink hole on a residential street in North Salt Lake on Monday.

Residents say it's not the first time the line has broken in the past 14 months. The same pipe caused a huge fountain in the street late last year.

Monday's break crated a sink hole more than 6 feet deep and 20 feet wide.

Because of the past history of troubles with the pipe, crews will have to remove more than 1,700 feet of the water main and replace it over the next two weeks or more.

The NSL city has such an overflow of funds to build a new building for their new offices, but continually pokes holes all over Center St. They have these water breaks happen about 3-4 times a year, EVERY YEAR for the past ten years I've lived here...a quick patch and their all set? It is known that the the groundwater is contaminated and NSL still says that the water is all safe... no problems. What's another little patch... just so they can work in a comfy new building. They 'deserve it'.
