VERNAL, Utah (AP) - A 19-year-old Vernal man has become Utah's fourth drowning victim of the week.
Authorities say Christopher Smith and a friend were playing on a floating device Friday afternoon at Steinaker State Park near Vernal when it got away from them.
Both men swam after it but Smith began havaing problems and went under the water. His body was found later about 12 feet under water and 40 feet from shore.
On Thursday, searchers recovered the body of 19-year-old John Doucette of Logan after he drowned in Tony Grove Lake near Logan and 17-year-old Rordan Bumgardner of Salina drowned in Palisade Reservoir in central Utah.
On Monday, 4-year-old Mason Kimber of Cedar City drowned in Lake Powell.
