SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Police say shots fired forced a school lockdown in Salt Lake City Tuesday evening.

Salt Lake Police say they received reports of several shots being fired at a home on 1895 West 400 North, which is located near Meadowlark Elementary School.

Police say one person, an 18-year-old man, was taken into custody, after what appears to to have been a domestic situation involving the teen and a girlfriend.

The 18-year-old man was taken in for questioning because police believe he was the person responsible for firing the gun.

Meadowlark Elementary was a polling location for Tuesday's elections, and some people who were voting or planning to vote were diverted to Backman Elementary School on 601 North 1500 West.

The polling location was moved from Backman Elementary back to Meadowlark Elementary after the lockdown was lifted.
