SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Police are on the hunt Thursday for two men accused of invading a home in Salt Lake City. They gave the people inside quite a scare.
One suspect had a gun, he stormed into the house and began making threats, but what's interesting is the suspects all of the sudden had a change of heart.
Some overnight, a man living around 11th South and 4th East in Salt Lake City heard what he thought was someone breaking into his car. He went outside to confront who it was, and found two men. One of them had on a ski mask, pulled out a gun and chased the man back into his house. The gunman started demanding money, but when he noticed kids in the house, he stopped, told his buddy “Let's just go.”, and they took off.
Police said no one was hurt, they were simply frightened from what happened. They said both officers and the people inside are very lucky.
"Most people that are brazen enough to go into a house with a gun chasing somebody might not necessarily be concerned about who's in the house with the people, but evidently this individual felt that hey, there's kids and didn't want to be any part of it so he left," said Lt. James Tracy, Salt Lake City Police.
So far officers only have a limited description of who these men are: one man had a ski mask and a silver handgun. The other was dressed in possibly maroon clothing, maybe wearing a hoodie. They took off in a small white sporty type car, maybe a Honda with tinted windows. If you have any information, call police.
