SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Women pay her big bucks for her advice and men ponder how she knows them so well. She is Utah's dating coach and award-winning author, Alisa Goodwin Snell.
This real life cupid wants all Utah singles to know that chances are if you're not seeing results, it's not you, it's your technique!
For all the ladies, she said having a male-friendly psychology will help to avoid the emotionally toxic.
Snell said, “The difference between men and women is that most men know they don't understand women, most women think they understand men, and they don't.”
So what does she say the five biggest secrets to understanding the male psyche are?
Secret number one:
Men love a feminine woman.
Regarding flirting, Snell said you girls should be “Looking at men in the eyes but tilting your head a little bit, talking with your hands, tilting and tapping your foot in his general direction.”
The dating coach also said that even if you're not feeling it right away, just fake it until you make it!
Secret number two:
Men like to compete.
Alisa said one of the struggles is that women don't act in a way that draws a man to compete for her.
So how should girls do that? Snell said, “Simply looking at him from across the room, and smiling, and then looking away and then looking back and smiling and looking away, and maybe just giving a gentle fingered wave.”
Also, don't forget to reward him for investing!
“So if he comes over,” Snell said, “Just say ‘I was so hoping I'd get a chance to talk to you!”
Secret number three:
Just be yourself.
“One of the best ways to tell the difference between a jerk and a gem is to express your feelings, rights, needs and opinions on every date.” Snell said, “Especially on the first three dates.”
Sercret number four:
Men need to be needed.
“ If you're walking toward a door and they're offering to open it, they're offering to carry bags for you,” said Snell, “Say yes, I needed that! That way, you will look more appreciative and your man will feel like a hero. After all, a man who is not needed dies a slow death!”
And lastly, the most coveted "man-secret" of all:
Men love through sacrifice.
Snell said, “A man is much more invested in a vehicle that he has pampered, and he worked hard to get versus a vehicle that was just given to him.”
Thus, you're more of a prize when he has to work, sweat, and sacrifice for you, so be vulnerable, put yourself out there, and remember, the more you invest, the harder you'll fall!
