SALT LAKE (ABC 4 News) - One of Salt Lake's hottest new businesses is not happy with Salt Lake.
The mobile Chow Food truck says the city's business laws are making it harder to do business.
While the city actually agrees, it may be months before it changes them.
Serving mobile, upscale Asian food, the Chow Truck has them lining up downtown in Salt Lake.
Sasha Jarrard, one Chow Truck customer told ABC 4,
"I think its like a cool thing and it takes the taco stand to a new level."
But Salt Lake isn't necessarily making it easy.
SuAn Chow finds some city business laws hard to swallow.
"I have not been actually cited but I have received two warnings."
Under city law, the Chow Truck can only park for two hours in one spot.
This can make it harder for customers to find.
We asked SuAn Chow if the two hour limit was hurting business?
She said yes.
Now, ABC 4 did talk to Salt Lake and the city is frustrated too.
The mayor wants the ordinance changed to let the Chow Truck stay in one spot longer.
But it may take 3 months or longer to change the law.
Considering that summer is the Chow Truck's busiest time, waiting until winter leaves a
bitter taste in the owner's mouth.
SuAn Chow says,
"That's what's very frustrating and confusing as to why something should take so long particularly
when everyone is on board and wanting to move forward in the same direction."
The city tells ABC 4 it would like to move faster on this issue, but the law is the law.
So, until the city does change that law, the Chow Truck will have to remain a moveable feast.
