SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A new poll shows a virtual tie between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, if the 2012 Presidential Election were held today.

The Rassmussen Poll put the possible 2012 opponents in a 45 - 45 per cent tie.

The same poll shows former vice-presidential republican nominee Sarah Palin would lose to Obama by a margin of 42 to 48 per cent.

The other 10 per cent in both matchups show repsondents prefer another candidate or were undecided.

The poll also showed that Romney was preferred among unaffiliated voters by a 48 to 41 percent margin over Obama.

Rassmussen's poll cited economic concerns as the main reason for Romney's popularity among likely republican voters.

You've apparently forgotten it was the 'Rs' who passed the first *humongous* stimulus bill. It was the 'Rs' who sat on their hands as the economy slid into the toilet...thus necessitating/spawning the humongous stimulus bill. Unless you're in complete denial you must admit that Obama has inherited a government fighting two wars...one of them unnecessarily IMO, a health care industry run amok and rapidly becoming unaffordable for even the middle class (thanks in large part to Nixon...yet another 'R'...read your history)....and an economy in shambles. Cheney, yet another 'R' essentially *shelved* the Constitution for 8 years, tortures...and lies about it.....conceals intelligence information from Congress....basically doing everything in his power to increase his power and that of the President, while concurrently doing everything he can do to conceal his actions and insulate the administration from scrutiny *and* the rule of law. Should I go on.....??

ROMNEY IS THE ONE! THE ECONOMY IS THE ONLY FACTOR THAT WILL COUNT! REAGAN WAS PRO CHOICE THEN CHANGED AND ALSO LOST HIS FIRST BID FOR THE WHITEHOUSE BUT GOT ELECTED DUE TO THE ECONOMY! BOTH ARE "R"'s!smile.
