SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 NEWS) - Salt Lake City Police are on the look out for two armed robbers who seem to be targeting hispanics.

The dangerous duo robbed a latino man at gun point yesterday at a park located at 1650 West 10th North in Salt Lake City.

When cops arrived on the scene other victims approached officers telling them they had also been robbed by two white guys with a gun and were too afraid to call police.

Police say many criminals see hispanics as targets for easy money. To use the street term, crooks view them as walking ATMs because they generally tend to keep money on them or in their homes instead of using banks.

Often times they are so afraid of being deported or dealing with law enforcement they don't report the crimes.

This disturbing trend is on the rise locally and nationally. The FBI says crimes targeting the Latino are way up this year as crooks cash in on their fears.

The suspects involved in the armed robbery at the park are described as two white men, one is around 5'8 the other is 6'4. They were driving a white Mazda Protege with license plate number 811 3P.

Police are asking for the publics help in catching these crooks who are preying on the hispanic community. They are also urging victims to come forward and report the crimes.
They assure them that they will not check immigration status. They only want to help the victims and get the bad guys off the streets.
