SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A phone scam we exposed in January is back in Utah, with a twist.

Elderly people get a phone call which appears to be from a grandchild.

The scammer tells the person the grandchild got into a car accident in Canada and needs their grandparents to wire money to help them. They also ask the person not to call their parents.

Salt Lake City Police have three complaints about these calls here.

They say you should never wire money to someone unless you can confirm independently that they are really in trouble.
