SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The suspects in the July 4th beating of David James Bell made their initial appearance in court this morning.
33 year old Ieti Mageo and 30 year old Lulu Latu heard the charges against them and were appointed attorneys.
Mageo is charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and riot. His wife, Latu, is charged with riot.
Five others are also charged after David James Bell and his partner Dan Fair were severely beaten.
Bell was accused of kidnapping the couple’s children, but he was acquitted of those charges.
