MURRAY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – The Humane Society of Utah celebrated it’s 50th anniversary Saturday with a record breaking adoptahon.
Pet lovers from across the state were invited to attend a celebration at the Humane Society in Murray with food, music and of course animals.
The HSU hoped to adopt out fifty animals but surpassed its goal and adopted out more then 117 animals.
Carl Arky, director of communications for the Humane Society of Utah says, “We hope that they will continue to do this after our 50th anniversary is over, because I guarantee you we’ll still have a lot of great cats and dogs in our shelter that still needs good homes.”
The HSU of Utah was founded in the summer of 1960. Their mission is to house homeless animals, provide state-wide investigations of animal abuse and cruelty issues and to develop a state-wide education program to promote responsible pet ownership.
