ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) - Authorities are searching for a missing Salt Lake City man who went hiking over the weekend in southern Utah.
The Washington County sheriff's office says 49-year-old Jim Williamson reportedly went hiking in the Red Mountain area near Ivins on Sunday. They say he may have traveled in the wrong direction and that he called his wife from a cell phone Sunday to tell her he was almost out of water. Police think Williamson's phone has since lost its charge.
Williamson's wife called authorities Sunday and search efforts started that evening.
A call from The Associated Press to the Washington County sheriff's office seeking an update was not immediately returned Monday.
