Salt Lake City (ABC 4 News) -- The University of Utah emergency room was locked down for more than an hour Sunday morning after a white powdery substance was found on a patient.

Hospital staff reported the emergency after spotting five separate ziplock bags containing the substance.

Salt Lake City Hazmat crews and the University Police responded to the incident around 8 a.m.  Trauma patients were diverted to other area hospitals for the next hour.

Investigators have determined the substance is cocaine and police have now taken the patient into custody.

The hospital emergency room was reopened just before 9:30 a.m.
