SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - What do bands like Third Eye Blind, 311 and Dashboard Confessional all have in common? They are all raising money for Utah.
They will perform at the first ever candlelight serenade. Several bands will be performing Saturday at Thanksgiving Point to raise money for Utah's human trafficking taskforce; a law enforcement unit helping to stop sex and labor trafficking.
“The main goal is to get a lot more eyes and ears for the local law enforcement we have the Utah Task Force on Human Trafficking but they are not even full time. We don't have budget for that here in Salt Lake City, so these Vice officers need eyes and ears watching for this,” Jess Larsen, chairman of Child Rescue said.
Jess Larson organized Saturday’s event after learning of a long line of human trafficking in his own family.
Besides bands, Attorney General Mark Shurtleff and former Salt Lake City mayor
Rocky Anderson will speak.
Tickets are available at Smithstix or at the gate. Ticket prices have been lowered to $20 for General Admission seating.
