Deseret News rumored to lay off half of its staff

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – The Deseret News may be preparing to lay off half of their work force.
City Weekly reports that multiple sources have confirmed the newspaper will make the layoffs. City Weekly claims that the sources include current employees as well as managers.
ABC 4 contacted the CEO of Deseret News about the legitimacy of the rumors.
Clark Gilbert emailed ABC 4 saying, “Like many newspapers around the county, we are examining how to enhance our business model….We have not made any formal decisions about what model is best for our newspaper.”
