MIDVALE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The father of American Idol runner-up David Archuleta has been cited and fined for solicitation of a prostitute during a sting at a Midvale massage parlor.

Police say Jeff Archuleta was involved in a sting at the Queens of Reiki massage business on January 14, 2009, and pleaded no contest to solicitation charges.

ABC 4 spoke with Jeff Archuleta's attorney Eric Bauer Wednesday night. He confirmed that Archuleta had been a customer at the massage parlor when police raided it. Bauer also said Archuleta went to the massage parlor for legitimate therapy on his back.

Bauer also confirmed that Archuleta pleaded No Contest to the solicitation charge and paid a fine of $582. Bauer added that even though Archuleta pleaded No Contest that his client did not participate in any sexual activity.

Midvale Police Sergeant John Salazar told ABC 4 News, "He was the sole client, there were three other women there - all issued citations ranging from prostitution to conducting business without a license. and we shut 'em down."

Salazar added that there was proof a massage, and more that had taken place moments before they walked-in. Whan ABC 4 asked if Archuleta was at the massage parlor for a massage and nothing else, Salazar replied, "Through the investigation and interview, no, he was there for sexual gratification."

Bauer also said he advised Archuleta to plead No Contest in hopes of avoiding publicity for his son David, who is embarking on a nationwide tour to promote his newly released CD.

Did I hear at the end of the televized news report that Mr. and Mrs. Archuleta's divorce was final in February? Or am I hearing things?

Doesn't matter! Doesn't MATTER! Life happens. David and his family are still very good people compared to most of the sex crazed world at large. I say let David's father work things out with his family, and keep the media out of it. And... you go BIG David! Wow us with your amazing voice and spirit this summer and I will forever and always be amazed by you.

"...his family will suffer immensely."...for no good reason at all. The guy wanted to get laid....who doesn't? That's a crime? Hardly...two or more ADULTS engaging in CONSENSUAL sexual behavior. What you D-heads fail to realize is that many of your own marriages are little more than state-sanctioned, LICENSED prostitution.

David Archuleta has proven over the past year to be a kind, loving, forgiving person, who won't say a bad thing about anyone. I hope that no matter what his dad has done, people will leave David alone and not keep asking him about it. If has father has done something immoral or illegal, he will deal with it and his family will suffer immensely. We don't need to add on the condemnation and make David's life any more painful.

Prostitution is illegal. Manipulating someone into believing gods are real, then swindling them out of their money, time, and property is condoned. Go figure. Thank you, Robert Evan Howard aclepd.com aclepd@aclepd.com
