What a joke - Law "enforcement" agencies not enforcing our laws and protecting LEGAL citizens. If you're here legally you have nothing to fear from this law.

As for your defense of the illegal hoards thrust upon us: They entered the country illegally. They have taken a job from an American. Their medical care, education, social services are paid for by Americans. They do all these things at the expense of Americans. They flaunt their presence in this country, which has caused severe damage to our economy and our people. Their criminal behavior is inexcusable; therefore there will be no pardon. Only immigrants who enter legally, find their own place in American society, assimilate, and make a meaningful contribution are welcome here. Grow up.

Without verifiable I.D., they cannot be processed for the offense for which they were picked up in the first place, i.e., DUI, driving without a license, traffic violations, assaults, etc..., never mind that their presence illegally is against the law. Pretty darned convenient, isn’t it? Therein lays the conundrum. Legal American citizens are held accountable for their actions, as they well should be. Illegal aliens aren’t held accountable for their actions because they cannot be accurately processed due to their very illegality. Isn’t that convenient? While the states do not make immigration law, they most certainly have a responsibility to enforce the laws already on the books, particularly when the federal government’s failure to do so is at the detriment of American citizens. Since the federal government refuses to uphold the laws it imposes on the states, it is incumbent on state governments to step up to the plate. This exposes the federal government as being useless as teats on a hog, and must therefore be overthrown with all due haste. It is unwise to confuse our refusal to be walked all over like doormats and shat upon like commodes, or our insistence on being treated with the respect and dignity by our elected officials that we rightfully deserve with racism, hatred, restrictionism, etc…, for it is nothing less than patriotic love of country and our fellow Americans.

CONGRATULATIONS, UTAH! You make America proud! Many States will be following you with their laws. It's time for ZERO TOLERENCE with these ILLEGAL ALIENS. It's long over due for them to get back to their own Country where they belong. When they are here ILLEGALLY, they DON'T belong here! AGAIN, CONGRATULATIONS!

Well when Salt Lake City begins to look a lot like a over-populated third world country like New York City and LA do, you might look around and wonder why someone did nothing to stop it.

Salt Lake City will eventually take on the appearance of a third world country like many of the US cities do now, such as New York City, LA and others. It will just be a matter of time. Barb

P.S. If you're daughter is releasing them, they must not have done anything wrong except come into this country illegally. Due to the conditions of their own country (which we helped create, by the way) I think we can forgive them of that.

Kudos to the Police men and women who have refused to support this law. It's not their job to enforce immigration, and they're stretched thin enough as it is. You know who's really doomed? All the racist bigots out there that wanted this law to pass.

Law enforcement officers who refuse to enforce the law are no longer qualified for the job they were hired to do. They must be relieved of their position with all due haste, and replacements must be hired at once. I am the mother of a policewoman who would be eternally grateful for immigration laws like this, as she is sick to her stomach each time she must release an illegal criminal invader back onto our streets. If these non-compliant officers get away with this refusal to enforce the law, I fear Utah will be doomed. You are all in my prayers.
