PROVO, UT (ABC 4 News) - If you are driving around Provo and see a couch making its way through traffic, you aren't seeing things. A BYU student had the idea to make a motorized couch and has made it happen.
Two twelve volt car batteries power the broken wheel chair moving the couch. It's a pretty stable ride and the BYU students who made it have been riding in comfort through Provo. But, they aren't getting a warm welcome from BYU campus police. Motorized vehicles are banned on campus.
Steward Clyde from New Jersey helped with the electrical wiring. He said, "it's a pretty economic couch to get around."
Nick Homer from Riverton is the mastermind of it all. He said, "it's been a dream and we finally found a broken wheel chair and it took three months to fix it up and we finally got it going."
