KEARNS, Utah (ABC 4 News) – After Tausha and Stephen Pio were hit on 4715 South two weeks ago, ABC 4 took action to see what could be done about street safety in the area.

The first steps to make the road safer were announced on Friday.

Salt Lake County engineers have been reviewing the hazards of the busy road, and late Friday afternoon, their report was released.

A crosswalk will be put in at 4180 West and 4715 South.

In addition, the county will put up pedestrian-activated flashing lights, along with a new sidewalk connecting to the park where many children walk.

Construction is expected to begin in the next couple of months.
