Thank you for your post A Mom. I had only read over a page or two of information about this disease and obviously I didnt get to the part where it said that this disease is genetically inherent. You have enlightened my awareness of Cystic Fibrosis to a new level of understanding and hopefullly anyone else who also decides to read this post.

There is no underlying issue or other cause for this disease besides the fact that it is genetic. People need to familiarize themselves with Cystic Fibrosis and then they would understand why the mucous is thick, sticky, and can build up in one’s body. Researchers are looking at ways to correct the defective gene. Lack of treatment causes damage that is why early intervention is key to fighting this disease. People need to become more involved with awareness just as they do for other diseases. I pray that they will find a cure for this disease.

I would like to think that a scientist,a doctor and a chemist would be the most likely candidates of all whos combined professional knowledge should it be collaberatively used in dealing with the subject at hand might actually be enough to come up with a cure for this disease or any other disease in existance for that matter. Apparently Cystic Fibrosis has to do with the build up of mucus in the lungs and also in the digestive tract that eventually leads to very serious problems and even death in the more progressive stages of the disease. Obviously in my opinion there is some sort of underlying issue or otherwise cause that I'm sure occurs within the body itself that causes this disease to take hold, take effect and ultimately create the overall build up of the ever so problematic mucus itself. I say leave it up to the scientist to determine or figure out the root or overall cause and also any and all suggestions for a possible cure. The chemist to develope the drug-substance or whatever it may be to combat, counteract or destroy the disease itself "in the sense that this isnt exactly something that through something like a simple operation is just easily or conviently removed to begin with". And last of all the doctor to diagnose the condition and administer the cure should we live to see the day that a cure becomes available in the form of a serious reality which is so much more than just hope for something that I just cant help but to agree with you here on this one Karen is a very sad and such a disheartening thing to learn about. God bless your soul for being so caring about something that could be considered nothing less than a horrible affliction of the human body. Lastly, may we pray that someday humankind will be able to treat this disease more effectively or cure it completely and forever along with so many more if not all of the diseaes that currently exist in our world as we speak.
