BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A woman is desperate to get her furniture and family heirlooms back from a moving company. Her belongings were picked up 44 days ago, and she's still waiting.

Chelsea Uken watched American Relocation pack up her mother's belongings from her Brigham City home.  "We're pretty angry about it...We've tried calling them and every time it's a different story of why they don't have their stuff," said Uken.

"We trusted them.  We trusted them with our belongings and we just want our things back.  We want what's ours back," said Chelsea's mother Amy McKee.

ABC 4's Noah Bond called American Relocation to get answer.

"Let me explain one thing.  I have to talk to the person who actually signed the contract," replied the American Relocation Employee named Holly.

The company would not answer ABC 4's questions or return calls, so we took Amy's concern to the Vice President for Redman and Storage, Gary Barruss, in West Valley City.  "They have a right to have a guaranteed date, to have their shipment picked up and delivered," he said.

One problem for Amy is her contract. Her pickup date is listed as November 22, but her delivery date is listed as open. Barruss said that customers need to get the pickup day and delivery day on a signed contract.

Amy has a few options.  She can go to arbitration with the company or hire an attorney.

"They can hire an attorney and take them to court if they don't step up and take care of the problem," said Barruss. "Companies that we represent generally will pay hotel bills food, normal cost inconvenience problems."

Amy says she's going to be more careful the next time she hires a moving company.

"We just went into it blindly. We trusted that they were a legitimate business and that they would hold up their end of the bargain," said McKee.

ABC 4 will continue calling American Relocation until it delivers Amy's belongings to her Florida home.

This is so sad. I can't imagine going through this same problem. I would be so furious. I have had a great experience with a moving company ( twomanmovers.com ) and if it would have turned out like this I would be distraught. I feel for this family.
