TAYLORSVILLE, Salt Lake County (ABC 4 News) - In a simple graveside service at the Provo Cemetery Monday morning, Marcos Sanchez will finally be laid to rest – 13 days after he became the first Utahn to die from the H1N1 Swine Flu outbreak.

The funeral was made possible by an ABC 4 viewer who heard of the struggles of Marcos’ mother, Tina, to come up with the money to bury her son.  “John”, who asked to remain anonymous, met Tina Saturday morning at the McDougal Funeral Home in Taylorsville and paid the outstanding balance – approximately $2,000.  He also gave Tina a little extra to pay for flowers and incidentals.

“John” told ABC 4 after the meeting with the funeral home, “I had to bury a child 3 – 4 years ago – a daughter who died of cancer.  To take the money out of my account and pay for this just makes me happy.  And the only reason I’m doing it is to help someone else out.”

“I’m glad that this is all taken care of,” said Tina.  “He’s like an angel that came out of nowhere.  And I’m just so relieved.”

Also on Saturday, family and friends held a car wash in Provo to raise money for a headstone for the grave.  Our Good Samaritan said if they didn’t earn enough, he can help out with that as well.
