SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - We're taking action to help a community garden get off the ground.
It sits behind the new Palmer Court Apartments at 999 South Main in Salt Lake.
The building houses families getting back on their feet after falling on tough times.
The area in back of the apartment building used to be an empty space.
Now, it's ready to be planted with fruits and veggies that the families can grow themselves to save money and eat healthy at the same time.
“A lot of us at home have a garden, or grew up nearby a farm. It's something a lot of people take for granted. It's the first chance people here have had to do that,” said Ian Peisner, Palmer Court case manager.
Peisner said there's just one thing missing from the garden: tools.
They need new or gently used shovels, hoes, rakes, wheelbarrows, irrigation lines and hoses.
If you can take action and help, contact the Palmer Court Apartments by calling 801-505-7777.
