TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - It is game on at a Taylorsville baseball field. ABC 4 took action and it's time to show you the results. The lights are up and running again after thieves stole the copper wiring earlier this year at Vista Park at 5000 South and 1950 West.

It's been a summer with no night games at the Taylorsville field. League officials realized the lights weren't working as they got the field ready this spring. Electricians say second to gold, copper is the best conductor of electricity. It's also very valuable it’s what thieves were after.

On Wednesday League President Holly Smith couldn't wait to flip the switch. Within minutes the lights are glowing. Smith says, “They've just made all these kids' dreams come true for this season.”

"Southwire" donated the copper wiring. Workers from "Landmark Electric" reconnected them with help from "Hunt Electric, Inc." and "Western States Equipment." It was a story and project that touched the hearts of everyone who gave their time. Jim Forrest was the first to call ABC 4. He says he thought of his kids who are involved with youth sports, “They've got the time to spend with my kids. I can definitely go out and spend a little time to help somebody else.”

Josh Hardman with Hunt Electric, Inc. says, “Every young boy's dream is to play underneath the lights and we're just happy we had the opportunity to take part in it.”

These Babe Ruth players were back on the field Wednesday after their first night practice Tuesday night. They say they’re just thrilled to feel like the pros practicing under the lights. Catcher Jake Davison says, “After practice was over we all went out and took outfield again just to see what it was like and it was pretty cool.” Teammate Kyle Hoffman says, “Thanks so much for making it possible for us to play.”

The state championships start later this month and with night practices back on schedule the players say they think they'll be ready to go.
