WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - When an ABC 4 viewer asked for help in getting her watch back, our story aired, and within minutes the owners of a defunct West Valley City jewelry store called with results.
Don Nico Jewelers was located at 3618 West 3500 South. Lois Austin says she left her expensive watch there to be fixed.
Ten days ago, when she went back to pick it up, her jeweler and his employees were gone. Austin says, “It was my signature piece. He didn’t leave his number. I don't know why he did this.”
Wednesday night after ABC 4 aired the report, a man who says he's the owner's brother contacted us. He arranged to have Lois pick up her watch. Austin says, "I'm thankful for you Kerry and the Channel 4 team that works for the little guy."
There is more jewelry to be returned. Nicholas Balderas says his brother owned Don Nico Jewelers. He says Nicholis Monachivas moved to California because times were getting tough in his line of work. Balderas says, My brother ran into financial problems, but the jewelry is in Utah and I'm returning all of it."
