SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – Shortly after learning a suspect had been arrested in the death of Sierra Newbold, it was also discovered that the suspect was a neighbor. .

Terry Lee Black faces sexual assault and murder charges in the case. Neighbors who know Black were shocked and neighbors who learned Black lived just two blocks away from the Newbolds were just as shocked.

Police found the six-year-olds body between her house and Black’s house. Peter Fiagle says the news of an arrest is a bit of a relief. However, he knows Black’s wife and children and he says the arrest doesn’t make the situation go away. “You think about it every day. You wake up and think about it. You walk down the street and just to see what is going on.”

Fiagle took ABC 4 News from the Newbold’s house to the field where some of Sierra’s clothes were found. Then we walked to the canal where Sierra’s body was found. “We imagine this is the path he took.”

Fiagle is just as confused as everyone else who thinks about why this happened. And he has a unique perspective. He says he knows Black’s wife and children from church. He says Black also attended the LDS church with his family a few times, but was not a member of the church and never socialized.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t a connection that complicates things. Black and the Newbolds live close to each other. The families attend the same church. “I feel for them. I feel for them.”
