SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The wait is over for the new iPhone. Apple released the iPhone 4 this morning. Hundreds of people, if not more, showed up at the Apple store in downtown Salt Lake, and ABC 4's Brian Carlson was one of them.
Excited? Yes.
Dedicated? Yes.
“I’ve been here since 1:00 p.m. yesterday,” said one iPhone buyer.
"3:30 a.m. today," said another.
Some fans waited all night to get their hands on the new iPhone 4, just released Thursday morning.
“I think it's definitely going to be worth it especially after I've had some sleep,” said Andrew Gould, iPhone buyer.
“Camcorder, camera phone, I can have it all in one,” said Andrew’s wife Michelle.
“I'm pretty sure it'll contribute to world peace. I'm not sure how yet,” said another buyer.
So, what's all the fuss about? Among other upgrades you can now make video calls just like George Jetson. And no one's happier to have it than Andrew Gould who's getting one for his wife.
“You know what they say ‘happy wife happy life,” said Gould.
Some are buying it for their friends.
“I need to have a friend so I can use the cool new features of it,” said one buyer named Ben.
“I'm going to be Ben's friend and see if he can sell me his iPhone at nice reduced rate, right Ben?” Reporter Brian Carlson asked.
“Uh huh,” said Ben.
Others well...
“We're going to put it into a blender and blend it,” said Matt Best, Blendtec Marketing Assist.
Yup, a blender.
Regardless how you use it, you've got to go through a long line to get it. There are reports some iPhones are having problems with the screen and antennae working together, but if you still want to get a new iPhone. You better hurry. ABC 4 checked with the Apple store downtown, they anticipate being out by Thursday night.
