SANPETE COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for the Oaker Hills, Elk Ridge, Indian Ridge, Indianola, Panorama, Hideaway Valley, and Big Hollow areas due to the growth of the Wood Hollow Fire.

Voluntary evacuations are also being requested of residents north of Hill Top and east of Highway 89.

The receiving center for evacuees is the Peterson Dance Hall at 55 South State in Fairview.

Approximately 200 homes are threatened, displacing around 2,500 people.

Evacuations are now being made mandatory for the Blackhawk Campground and everything south of it in Payson Canyon.

The fire, which was burning at 1,500 acres Saturday and 2,000 Sunday morning, is currently burning at approximately 39,000 acres and is 10% contained. It is burning about one mile southeast of the town of Fountain Green.

The fire was reported to be extreme overnight, including some flame lengths of over 100 feet.

The burn began around 5 PM Saturday, and the cause, although assumed to be human, is currently under investigation.

Crews have lost one structure. There is no verification on what type of structure was lost at this time.

Jason Chaffetz has confirmed to ABC 4 that dozens of homes have have been burned in Indianola.

Sanpete county is now saying the total of structures lost is between 25-30.

PIO Don Carpenter is reporting the fire is being fought by approximately 64 people, including two crews, one helicopter, two engines, and five bulldozers. The crew will update to a Type II Team Monday morning.

ABC 4: Why won't you get your facts straight? Three times today now, during your 5 and 10 o'clock news, you've said (and showed) that MANDATORY EVACUATION is for everyone east of 89 from Mt.Pleasant to the county line. This is incorrect. Evacuations are, indeed, everyone east of 89, but only from Hilltop/Milburn to the county line. Fairview and Mt.Pleasant (both cities that you included in your broadcast info) are NOT under evacuation of any sort at this time. How it is that no one has told you to correct this yet, I do not know. Just because we are a small county, not part of the chaos of Salt Lake doesn't mean you shouldn't still give accurate, thorough reports. Sincerely, A Proud Sanpete Citizen
