CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) - The Utah Highway Patrol says a winter storm moving its way across central and southern Utah caused 51 crashes.

Trooper Cameron Roden says there were also 34 slide-offs reported on Wednesday in Millard, Beaver and Iron counties. The Deseret News in Salt Lake City reported on its Web site Wednesday that several people were hurt but none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Roden says a truck hauling cars jack knifed on Interstate 15 in Millard County. No one was hurt.

A trooper's patrol car also was sideswiped by a semitrailer on I-15 near the Iron County-Beaver County line. The trooper had stopped to help another driver and was not in the car when it was hit.
