SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah's unemployment rate is holding steady at 6 percent for a fourth straight month.
Officials with the state Department of Workforce Services say Friday that about 81,700 people were unemployed in July. Utah's jobless rate is below the national level of 8.3 percent.
State officials say the job count jumped 2 percent in July compared with last year, after the state added 24,500 jobs. While that pace was slower than June's 2.6 percent growth rate, officials say the July figure only appears to show a big slowdown because last July was such a strong month for jobs.
All of Utah's industrial sectors have added jobs year over year except construction. The professional and business services sector led the charge by adding 7,300 jobs.
