I live in the townhouses on the northend of Smithfield, and our retention area rivals that of the Great Salt Lake. God be with those who got hurt, i know some did. wow good job weather service, there was a thunderstorm watch for Box Elder County on the news yesterday, but nothing for Cache County.

I live in the 300 south block, I am a house up from the canal and my basement still flooded. My sweet neighbors down from the canal had their entire basement flood to the celing, windows break and all. We have been hauling things out, but it is almost a total loss. So many good friends and neighbors came to assist and bag. There are still many including firefighters and disaster rescue teams assisting at this moment.

this is sad! hopefully there homes will be okay and get pumped out quickly. The water damage will be terrible. God bless these people and those helping them. Why was the canal running that high? As one who has ran a canal system, I would have thought that canal would have been cut back due to serious storms in the forecast. Maybe the water order was high enough that it couldn't be cut back?
