SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - ABC4 News was the first to tell you it was on its way and Friday the doors finally opened to Utah's first Trader Joe's.
With the cut of an enormous lei, Trader Joe's opened their doors in Utah. An impressive procession of shoppers were the first to be inside the new store. But getting to this point, took quite a bit of patience and work from many locals.
Deb Sussman was in line for hours, she told ABC4; "We have been waiting years and years to have a trader Joe's in Utah."
Deb has been a Trader Joe's lover for years. She has put a lot of time and work into getting trader Joe's in Utah.
Sussman said, "I have written over 50 letters to get them to come here."
Deb is definitely not alone, she was one of just hundreds in line this morning who have been waiting and hoping for today.
Jennifer Evenson was also in line, she said, "When I took a job here in Utah it was a major part of the con list, there was no Trader Joe's!"
Trader Joe's and their Salt Lake City crew as they call it are almost as excited to be here as the shoppers
Trader Joe Captain Rory Violette told ABC4, "It took us a long time to get here, but we are here."
Trader Joe's is located at 634 East 400 South in Downtown Salt Lake City. They are open every day from 8 a.m to 9 p.m
