TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Surveillance video captures a Taylorsville gas station robbery. ABC 4 talks exclusively with the clerk held up at gunpoint.
Customers dressed in hoods and masks, are one of the last things a gas station clerk wants to see.
"It shakes you up a little bit," said Trevor Seeley, Shell station store clerk.
But last Friday night it happened to Trevor Seeley. He was working the graveyard shift at the Shell gas station on 4100 South and Redwood Road in Taylorsville when three masked men walked into his store.
"I just got up and kind of just followed them with my eyes a little bit," said Seeley.
Store surveillance video shows one man as he put a mask over his face. When Seeley first saw the men he didn't know what to think.
"I didn't know if they were going to come for some money or the register or what, but I knew what they were doing as soon as they started walking towards the beer," Seeley said.
The masked men grabbed over $100 worth of beer and started heading towards the door. Seeley tried to stop them.
"So I hopped over the counter, but someone from the outside pulled a gun on me, told me to get back, I just turned around as soon as I seen that."
If you look at the video again closely, you can see the gun in the open doorway.
"That was the first time I had a gun pulled on my face,” said Seeley.
“Pretty freaky?” Reporter Brian Carlson asked.
“Yah kind of," said Seeley.
Police want to know who they are.
"We want to get these guys caught because what they did was a simple theft turned it into an aggravated robbery by introducing a weapon into this and pointing it at the clerk," said Lt. Justin Hoyal, Unified Police Dept.
Seeley is glad they didn't use it.
"Thanks for not shooting me, and thanks for not messing with my car on the way out," said Seeley.
They're both hoping someone watching the surveillance video tips off cops to put the robbers behind bars.
