SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News)- Two Utah cities will have new mayors next year. In Stockton, Dan Rydalch was voted out of office Tuesday. Rydalch was not very popular after suspending a Stockton police officer for giving Rydalch’s son a ticket for driving without a license.
Former town clerk Ellen Montague says she worked for the city for 22-years before Rydalch chased her off. Montague said,” I'm glad that he's not the mayor anymore.”
Meanwhile Mia Love is the first African-American female mayor in Utah. But, she says she doesn't see color and either do her constituents. Love said,” I told a lot of people before I stopped thinking of myself as an African-American. I'm an American, born here, raised here.”
Love says she was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Connecticut. She’s lived in Utah for 12 years now, half of that time was spent on the city council.
