MANTI, Utah (AP) - Police have called off the search for a newborn baby's body at a landfill in central Utah.

Sanpete County Sheriff Kevin Holman says the search ended last week after officers and landfill workers finished searching an area where the baby's body was most likely buried.

Sheriff's detectives have said a minor delivered a stillborn child in late April and told authorities she had placed it in a Dumpster. Authorities believed the body ended up in the county's White Hills Landfill near Mayfield. Much of the county's residential waste is dumped there.

Brody Keisel, of the Sanpete County attorney's office, says he won't know whether there might be a case against the teen girl until the sheriff's office finishes its investigation.
