PLEASANT GROVE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Utah County Police chased a bull on the loose Wednesday afternoon.

Pleasant Grove police officer Kevin Carson and animal control officer Sandy Sargent faced a "long" morning after chasing the bull.

"It actually took me and others some time to find it," said Officer Sandy Sargent.

According to Carson and Sargent, this was no easy task.  When they found the bull near State Street, the bull began to act wildly.

"Once I felt it hit the truck I thought 'this can't be good," said Carson. "As I got up beside it, it started banging into my vehicle."

Carson said the bull left some dent marks on his cruiser.

"I just was thinking 'this thing is stubborn and mean." said Carson.

Sargent tried another method of stopping the bull, thanks to a rope that was attached to the runaway.

"My vehicle did get on the rope and brought the animal to a stop. Then it swung around and gored my truck with one of its horns," said Sargent "I was surprised, and then I thought, oh no I just wrecked my car."

Both Carson and Sargent are disappointed they couldn't corral the bull and that it had to be shot as it moved toward traffic on I-15.

They advise ranchers that when thier livestock gets away, to take care of it quickly because it can become more dangerous.

The owner of the bull, Robert Sutch, was cited, and faces "livestock at large" charges.  ABC 4 spoke with police who told us Sutch could be held liable for all damages to those police cars.
