BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Gov. Bobby Jindal is joining Mitt Romney this weekend in Utah, for a retreat with top GOP donors and other Republican heavyweights.

Jindal spokesman Kyle Plotkin said Friday that the Republican Louisiana governor was traveling to Utah on Friday, after a stop in South Dakota to speak to the state GOP convention.

The weekend's events in Utah include private meetings, receptions and strategy sessions for Romney's presidential campaign.

Jindal is considered a contender to become Romney's vice presidential running mate, and he's been regularly appearing on national televised news shows touting Romney's bid for the White House and criticizing President Barack Obama's performance.

Plotkin said Jindal was returning to Louisiana on Sunday.
