SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 Sports) - Real Salt Lake's all-time leading goal scorer Robbie Findley has decided to leave the team and pursue a soccer career overseas. Because of his decision, RSL left Findley unprotected in the upcoming MLS expansion draft.

“Robbie Findley has informed us that he has offers overseas and will be pursuing an opportunity outside of Major League Soccer as the next step in his career,” said RSL general manager Garth Lagerwey. “We respect his decision and thank him for his immensely valuable contributions to Real Salt Lake, as we could not have won a championship without him. We wish Robbie the best of luck with his future endeavors.”

Findley played for the United States in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

He scored five goals and had four assists this past season for Real Salt Lake, after leading the team with 12 goals during RSL's run to the MLS Cup championship in 2009.

Acquired in 2007 in a trade with the L.A. Galaxy, Findley scored 29 goals in his 2 1/2 seasons with Real.
