TACOMA, Wash. (ABC 4 News) - The Steven Powell voyeurism trial is moving forward now that a jury has been seated. A judge is expected to rule if a jury will hear Powell's private thoughts written in his diary.
Powell is being tried for voyeurism. In his diary, he writes that he's been "nearly out of control sexually my entire life."
He admits to being a voyeur and recording "women of every age … taking photos of pretty girls in short skirts, beautiful women of every age."
In the diary, Powell claims he had been stalking his former daughter-in-law, Susan Cox Powell who disappeared in December 2009. He claims he had been taking secret video of her and writes that he "is a voyeur and she (Susan) an exhibitionist, and they are a perfect match."
In documents filed in court, video recordings were seized last August that show Powell making sexual gestures with himself while secretly video taping Susan Cox Powell.
Powell's defense attorney, Clayton Sims says, "There's some value in presenting the documents but its very prejudicial and the connection between his case and Susan Powell is really tenuous and to bring her into the case up in Washington really prejudices him."
Steven Powell's son, Josh Powell was considered the only person of interest in Susan's disappearance before killing himself and their two sons in a house fire last February.
