PARK CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Charles Gibson is retiring after 14 years as ABC talent. ABC News president released a statement saying Gibson persuaded him that this is "both what he wants and what's best for him"
By the end of this year Gibson is retiring possibly to his home in Deer Valley. "It is a very special place to be in with my family," Gibson said.
The best way to catch a glimpse of Chales Gibson's house? The chairlift at Deer Valley, just look for the copper tin round house.
Gibson's daughter got married on this mountain back in the summer of 2001. The rehersal dinner was at the quaint Cafe Trego on Park City's Main Street. Also the home to one of Charlie's favorite dessert in the world, bread pudding.
In fact, Gibson had fifty orders specially sent to New York. The bread pudding arrived in pie pans on cool ice with a national appearance on Regis And Kelly. And since then, business has been booming.
"In person, he's just as personable, just as interested in everyone as he is on TV" said Ed Axtell, owner of Cafe Trego. " He's just a regular guy."
Diane Sawyer will replace Charles Gibson as the "World News" anchor in January.
