GRANSTVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 News)- ABC 4 is taking action in Grantsville. Parents at Willow Elementary school say they have been waiting seven years for more sidewalks.

The school is located at 439 Willow Street in Grantsville. Parents say the only sidewalk leading from the school is dangerous. Casey Jorgensen said,” And there just close to traffic and that's scary.”

She says something has to be done or a child is going to get hurt. Jorgensen says sidewalks weren't part of the original plan when the school was constructed. The surrounding area has grown but sidewalks haven't.

Ken Luke is Assistant Superintendent for the Tooele School District. Luke said,” But there's still an issue everyone's aware of that." But what's being done about it? Parents say the problem has gotten worse since fire damage from Grantsville Elementary forced more students to pack into Willow.

ABC 4 News took the concerns to Grantsville City Councilman Todd Castagno. He wouldn't talk on camera. However, he wondered if it was a city problem considering that the school district built the school with no sidewalks.

He says the city would love to get a sidewalk in their but in this tough economy the money is not there. Councilman Castagno says it might have been a mistake to put a school that far out in the country.

Castagno says the city continues to request grants to pay for a new sidewalk.
