EMERY COUNTY, Utah (ABC 4 News) -  Soldiers of the Utah Army National Guard assisted Emery County officals Tuesday morning in locating six rafters missing since Monday on the San Rafael River.

The UNG's Second Battation, 211th Aviation unit had been training in the area when they were asked by Emery County officials to help out with the rescue.

The unit was practicing search-and-rescue and medical-response procedures, using Blackhawk helicopter crews in the area when they were contacted by the Emery
County Sheriff's office.

The Utah Army National Guard unit transported Emery County search-and-rescue personnel to the area, and helped located the missing rafters.

The helicopter landed nearby, so that Emery County Sheriff personnel could administer first aid to the tired and dehydrated rafters.

The Utah Army National Guard helicopter also airlifted the rafters to an awaiting ambulance a few miles away.
