WEST JORDAN, Utah. (ABC 4 News)- A West Valley City police officer was found dead in his car in Wyoming. He had been missing for two days.

Michael Valdes had last been seen by his wife on Tuesday evening, when he told her he was heading to work. However, Valdes never made it.

A search began, and the West Jordan Police Department asked for the public’s help in locating the 37-year-old.

Late Thursday evening, Valdes was found in his vehicle. He had died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and a single-vehicle car crash.

The West Jordan Police Department wished to thank the public and media for their assistance in looking for Valdez. The department said their hearts go out to his family, friends and co-workers.

They said Valdez will always be remembered for his big smile, dedication to his family and service to his community and country.
