SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The latest winter storm which began Tuesday morning in the mountains, then spread to the valley Tuesday night and Wednesday, has produced huge 1 day totals of rainfall, icy roads, and big mountain snows.

Brighton picked up 3 feet of snow, with Alta, Snowbird, and Park City close behind. Meanwhile over an inch of rain fell in Utah county, with as much as 7" of snow in Alpine, where roads were frozen solid this morning and treacherous.

The pattern of snowfall is beginning ot mirror that of 1983, when flooding commenced in mid-May from a sudden snowmelt. However, it is too early to say whether or not the heavy pack of snow will melt slowly or rapidly this far in advance, so there is no immediate flood threat to the Wasatch front.

The next storm after this one winds down Friday, will come in late next week with mainly rain in the valley and snow or mixed precipitation in the mountains
