SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The candidates in the race for Utah's 4th Congressional District continue to trade jabs with each other.

Today, Saratoga Springs Mayor, Mia Love, focused on the "real cost" of Jim Matheson in Congress. She says as a result of Matheson's time there, Utahns are paying a "high price." She also says a burden of debt is being passed on to the next generation.

"My greatest fear is that my children will come to me and say "mom, I've done everything you've taught me, I've done everything you asked. I was not a burden to society, society has left an impossible burden on me," said Love.

Love's opponent had a strong rebuttal. Matheson said that he wants to make it clear that he has a strong record of fighting against deficits in Washington. He says it's an issue he cares about and one that we all care about. Matheson also questioned some of his opponents positions, especially the one about eliminating all federal aid for college students in Utah.

"That would just destroy our future. This is the American Dream. We all want our kids to go get the best education they can have to compete in this competitive world, in this global economy," said Matheson.
