Footprints lead police to suspected bank robber

OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Police say that a bank robber was captured Saturday afternoon after a witness followed the suspect’s footprints to an Ogden apartment complex.

Lt. Eric Young with the Ogden Police Department tells ABC 4 News that the suspect entered the Alliance Credit Union at 2780 Adams Avenue, just before 1 p.m.

Police say that the suspect who has been identified as Bob Lane, 27, handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller complied and the suspect took off on foot.

A witness in the credit union, followed Lane to an apartment complex in the area of 2600 block of Adams Avenue.

Officers arrived and were able to track the suspect though footprints that were left in the freshly fallen snow.

Lt. Young say’s that the money taken from the credit union was recovered when the suspect was apprehended and taken to the Weber County Jail on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated robbery.
