PARK CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Controversial baptist protesters made their way to Park City Sunday.  After protesting three Churches in Salt Lake City, the Westboro church showed their anger over the Sundance movie "Red State."  Awaiting Westboro, a counter protest of Utahns.

Joe Parker is a senior at Park City High School.  He helped to organize the counter-protest awaiting Westboro in Park City.  He said, "We are taught tolerance and acceptance.  This is offensive to us."

Hundreds of people joined the Park City High School seniors to protest, a protest.

Kya Palomaki from PC High said, "They are coming to my hometown.  I needed to defend Park City from their hatred."

Grant Sanderson is also a PC High School student.  He said, "We believe that what they do is shamefully offensive, so we want to spare the public from that."

The Westboro Baptist church group spoke out against Kevin Smith's Red State.  The movie premiered at Sundance and satirizes Christian fundamentalism and ultra-conservatism.  Westboro said, that is a direct hit at them.

One Westboro protester said, "Kevin Smith is using this platform to mock the servants of god."

This protest is the latest of the message the Kansas group takes to each of their events.

The Westboro member continued, "The entire country, and especially the entertainment industry have given over to filth and perversion and rebellion against god."

The counter-protest took a stand of the ridiculous.  Each of their signs, obviously out there.

Tosh Roberts was part of the Utah group.  He said, "They are kind of ridiculous, so I thought I'd come up here and scream ridiculous things.  I guess to highlight how ridiculous they are."

As the Red State premier began, the director Kevin Smith took his own turn at protesting.  Surrounded by his own entourage, he moved into the crowd raising signs high into the air.

Westboro plans to be at West High School in Salt Lake City Monday morning.
