SALT LAKE CITY - CEO and President of the American Red Cross Gail McGovern visited Salt Lake City to meet with leaders of the LDS church regarding their new partnership.
The church has supported the Red Cross since 1987, providing relief and assistance to disaster locations across the United States.
“The Church is a valued partner of the American Red Cross, and they have helped us in so many, many different ways,” Ms. McGovern said. “The LDS Church and its members provide financial support and in-kind donations to the Red Cross, and these generous donations have helped ease the plight of millions suffering from disasters not only in our country, but around the world.”
The church will continue to assist the Red Cross, and through the new partnership, will continue to utilize meetinghouses as locations for local blood drives, as well as shelters for communities in times of emergency.
