911 call chronicles deadly discovery in Ogden fire

OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A 911 call describes the urgent nature of an Ogden apartment fire on Tuesday. That fire killed a 75-year-old woman and fire investigators are still trying to figure out what started it.

During the call to 911 the man on the phone tells dispatch, "The paper woman just came and told me, I'm outside and my pajamas."

The woman delivering papers Tuesday morning could hear the fire alarm and asked George Fox to call 911.

The 7 minute phone call chronicles the mere minutes it took for the 75-year-old woman's neighbors to realize, she died.

In the background of the call you can her the man's nice calling for the woman in unit 15 and then she makes the discovery.

Fox told dispatch "The woman inside the apartment is down, my niece just opened the door."

ABC4 spoke to Fox's niece, Tia Stimpson, Tuesday. Stimpson said, "As quick as I opened it, she was down."

Stimpson tried to wake her up, but it was just too late.

Fire investigators believe it was all just a terrible accident, but they are still sorting through evidence to determine what started this deadly apartment fire.
