SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Officials say a marijuana field containing 29,000 plants has been found in central Utah.
Authorities say a Wayne County man found the seedlings - which were less than two weeks old - on Sunday on a remote hillside when he was out riding an ATV on Boulder Mountain.
Central Utah Narcotics Task Force Commander Jeff Whatcott says if the plants had matured, they could have been worth up to $29 million.
U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Rodney Holliday says the plants were scattered, rather than plotted in a square.
Wayne County sheriff's office deputies watched the site overnight, then removed the plants on Monday. Officers think people tending the plants and living in a nearby camp fled at the sound of the ATV.
